More than once this record gave me chills. The riffs are good and the cello accompaniment gives it a grand vibe, but when the instruments drop out the real power comes. The vocal harmonies are crooned with passion and the cool factor of an old noir movie. There’s a jazz lounge element at times, but it’s grounded in a heavy doom metal foundation. The result is dark, heavy, and stimulating. Pick this one up if you’re into the artsy side of metal.
